Biography
My creative efforts in photography attempt to reveal contemporary implications of womanhood. Bridging subject and place, I’m causing visual grandeur to emphasize the largeness of a woman’s story. My lens-based body of work consists of staged portraits, self portraits, and still lives. Much of my creative process includes directorial photoshoots using strategic lighting, which plays a pivotal role in dictating mood and emphasis within the imagery. Each photograph encapsulates a composed moment of time in which my subject decides to confront the viewer by posing for them in a performative manner. In my self-portrait work, I’m maintaining a performative nature and searching inwardly through my valued experiences. In generating a succession of compositions that utilize symbolic representations of objects, body gestures, and locations, I wish to unravel multi-faceted experiences of womanhood.
